This attractive topographic map of one of Vanuatu’s smaller islands was produced in 1983 by the Department of Lands & Survey, New Zealand for the Vanuatu Government. The island is dominated by its volcano Mount Teu, which reaches 1016 metres (3333 feet) on the caldera rim. However, its name is mere coincidence: M̄erelava simply means ‘big boy’ in a language spoken on a neighbouring island.
Dozens of other maps of Vanuatu are available from TROPICARTA (requires Chomikuj account).
