Vatican City occupies less than half a square kilometre of Rome, so for a map to be of use, it needs to be detailed.
WhatIs.At has therefore chosen maps from the Carta Tecnica Regionale series. These cover Italy and the Vatican City (but not San Marino) at the scale of 1:5 000. Initially produced in great numbers during the 1950s by the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno, production is now the responsibility of the individual provinces.
These were produced by Lamco, for the province of Lazio in 2005.
